Jacob “Average” Johnson joins the Louis Johnson Jazz Trio for this impromptu recording session. The material is jazz with a heathy dose of R & B and Latin. It’s live in the studio and sounds like a Blue Note record. “Average” sports a big sound. He interprets Cannonball, Coletrane & Dexter. The veteran Trio comps seamlessly behind him with a kind of swinging funk. Several tracks feature electric piano.
